GO GREEN!

In the previous post, we showed you a lesson plan that deals with the emergency of fighting against climate change which was addressed to a group of 3rd or 4th of ESO.

In this post, you’ll find another lesson plan that will allow you to deal with this same topic, but which is addressed to lower groups, such as 1st or 2nd of ESO.

We have already made clear that our main goal when teaching is to talk, debate and discuss about current topics in ENGLISH! Therefore, this is a lesson plan full of debates to talk about climate change, its consequences and possible solutions.

Step 1: First of all, we will need to show them some specific vocabulary in order to make it easier when discussing about climate change. The vocabulary will be presented through a diagram, so students will learn these new words inductively and cooperatively, as they will work in groups of 3-4 people.

Step 2: Students are going to identify some problems caused by humans which are terribly damaging our environment by looking at some images.

Step 3: We are going to watch a video which shows other environmental problems such as deforestation, waste, animal extinction, and so on. Afterwards, students will answer some questions in their groups.

Step 4: Students will complete the Ecological Footprint Quiz. This quiz will make them aware of their daily routines and actions, and the damage they are causing to our environment. Consequently, they will become conscious about their actions and, if encouraged, they may change some of their habits for a better common future!
