THANKSGIVING DAY

Hey!

A new week is about to start, but this week’s a special one so we want to work it out.

As you all know, this week we’re celebrating Thanksgiving so we created two interesting sessions for 1st and 2nd ESO students.

The lesson plan is the following. The idea is that they don’t know what are we studying in this session, so use the Power Point attached so to provide your students with some background:

  1. Ask them interesting facts about USA and Canada. For example, I asked my students: How many stars does the USA flag have? Can you tell me the capital city of Canada?
  2. Tell them to describe the pictures in the following slides. It is a nice way to practice and revise food vocabulary, for instance. Also, they will learn new vocabulary, for example, the word parade.
  3. Watch the YouTube Video about the history of Thanksgiving by Ingla-Terra and answer the questions.
  4. What have we learnt? Ask students to summarize the content of the lesson.

In the next session, the main idea is that students create a present for someone in the classroom, a member of their family, friends, etc.

They will create a postcard where they draw something relevant to thanksgiving. Later, they write their best wishes and the reasons why they are thankful to that person.

It is a nice present to celebrate thanksgiving and a nice way to work our emotional side too.

We hope you enjoy this activity!

See you soon ❤
