ACTIVITIES VOCABULARY

Hey! How are you doing today?

Here we have a basic and dynamic activity for 3rd ESO teachers using the New English in Use book by Burlington Books as I do.

I like the fact that the book is updated and it has loads of materials but, in the second unit, I realized that the second part of the vocabulary was randomly explained.

This vocabulary part is about activities. Then, I created a kind of bingo where they need to guess the ‘hidden’ sentence.

For example, can you guess what activity do we have in this flashcard?

All-right, the correct answer is … make pottery.

Here you have some ideas to use this activity in your classroom:

(a) You can give your students some flashcards so they can guess the meanings of the icons.

(b) You have them in groups, you give them a paper including all of the sentences so they can guess all the puzzles. The first group to finish wins some points!

(c) You can show them flashcard by flashcard and you can guess altogether. You can give points to the first students who guess the sentences.

(d) Extremely difficult option. You can chop the flashcards and make them create appropriate sentences.

It’s a really engaging activity to study this vocabulary unit. I’ve tried it myself and students had fun trying to guess the hidden sentences.

Here you have the materials and the teacher key.

We hope you try it. If you do, don’t forget to leave us a comment.

Have a nice week!
